Trip Reacp: Queenstown, New Zealand

The team recently returned from an incredible six-week mountain biking trip in New Zealand, spending time riding around Queenstown and experiencing some of the most iconic riding zones in the world. From massive jump lines to technical bike park terrain, the trip was packed with progression, challenges, and unforgettable experiences both on and off the bike.

One of the main highlights of the trip was Dream Line, one of the biggest jump lines in the world. Being able to ride such a legendary spot almost every day pushed riders to take their skills to the next level. Many athletes spent hours sessioning jumps, dialing tricks, and building confidence on features that were far bigger than what they normally ride. Progression came quickly, with riders taking tricks they had practiced on airbags and mulch jumps and bringing them onto full-sized dirt jumps.

Throughout the trip, the group also explored several of Queenstown’s renowned bike parks including Skyline, Coronet Peak, and Cardrona. Each park offered completely different terrain, from fast berms and technical trails to massive jump lines. Skyline’s flowing trails and steep berms made for incredibly fun laps, while Coronet Peak challenged riders with flat corners that required quick adjustments in technique. Cardrona offered rocky technical riding that pushed athletes to improve their control and line choice in difficult terrain.

For many riders, the trip brought major progression. Talulah hit some of the biggest jumps of her life, including the Whip Off jump at Skyline Bike Park, while continuing to push her comfort zone on new trails and features. Watou spent countless days riding Dream and working through new tricks, eventually bringing several of them onto the massive jump line. Sessions at Mini Dream and the mulch jump also helped riders warm up and dial new tricks before taking them to larger features.

Nick had an especially eventful trip. Early on he spent a lot of time sessioning Dream and building his trick list, but a heavy crash resulted in a wrist injury that kept him off the bike for a week. After recovering, he returned to riding and quickly got back into the rhythm of bike park laps and jump sessions. Over the rest of the trip he continued progressing, landing a long list of tricks including flips, flatspins, superman seat grabs, and nacs.

For Wyatt, the trip brought both progress and reflection. While he improved his bike control, speed in corners, and technical riding, he also realized he could have pushed himself earlier in the trip. The experience helped him recognize the importance of trusting himself and stepping outside his comfort zone sooner, something he’s already planning to carry into future riding.

Beyond the riding, the trip was full of great experiences exploring New Zealand. The team visited incredible scenic spots, swam in the ocean and Lake Wakatipu, and spent downtime together enjoying the town of Queenstown. From local food and meat pies to relaxed evenings after long riding days, the trip offered plenty of moments to recharge and appreciate the surroundings.

Overall, the trip was a huge success. Riders progressed, pushed themselves on world-class terrain, and learned valuable lessons about confidence, resilience, and commitment. With new tricks landed, new trails conquered, and memories made with the team, the six weeks in New Zealand will be an experience these riders won’t forget anytime soon.
