Breaking Ground in 2026: Honoring Luke “Dingo” Trembath
We’re thrilled to announce that construction is set to commence in 2026 on The Learning Lab—a bright, nature-inspired space at Wy’East Mountain Academy where students can study, create, and explore career paths that align with their passions.
In loving memory of our late Trustee, Luke “Dingo” Trembath, the space will be officially named the Luke Trembath Learning Lab™, honoring his early contributions to the project along with his passion for education, creativity, and action sports. Located at the heart of our 28-acre campus, the Lab will feature glass walls, skylights, a cozy fireplace, and a rooftop waterfall flowing into a reflection pond. Inside, students will discover musical instruments, art and creative space, Find Your Grind career exploration stations, and the Scheidel Foundation Library, an analog resource filled with rich must-read literature through the ages.
As part of this announcement and generous gift, we’re proud to welcome Nick Gross to the Wy’East Mountain Academy Board of Advisors. Nick, who co-founded Find Your Grind with The Dingo, is a dedicated philanthropist and the drummer for Goldfinger and Girlfriends. Both Nick and Dingo were early supporters of the Learning Lab, and through their Find Your Grind Foundation, they’ve contributed $150,000 to help bring this vision to life. Their mission of self-discovery and purpose aligns seamlessly with Wy’East’s action-sports-youth engagement approach to growth and learning.
We caught up with Nick so he could share why this partnership mattered to him and The Dingo.
“Why are Find Your Grind and Wy’East Mountain Academy well suited for each other? How do their missions align?
I think Find Your Grind has always focused on an alternative approach to traditional education, and helping kids figure out career paths that suit their unique talents and interests. There is a true element of exploration and discovery and curiosity that is embedded into the ethos of Find Your Grind which I think resonates a ton with Wy'East Mountain Academy. Ultimately our mission is to help kids figure out who they are, where they are going, and how to get there- and it's so refreshing to see a sports academy like Wy'East support that vision through action sports.
Why is Wy'est mountain academy important to you? Why are you motivated to give back to the Academy? Why are you motivated to donate?
Growing up in Southern California I was embedded into the culture of action sports and music, and how both of those industries intersected to create some of our favorite cultural moments. I love seeing kids who have found their passions through action sports and want to turn them into a career. Even if all of these kids don't become the next professional athletes, there are so many lanes within the sports ecosystem to have success careers in. It's important to me to support the next generation of athletes and sports enthusiasts to keep these industries thriving. I loved everything the Academy stood for and the community they've built. I think in terms of donating and giving back, there's really nothing better than finding organizations that you resonate with personally through shared experiences, and bring an element of creativity and passion into all of those projects.
How do you think the Learning Lab will impact the lives of Wy’East students for the better? What is your vision for the space and why are you excited about it?
This Learning Lab is going to be a pinnacle and focal point of the Academy and I'm so excited for the design and creative elements that are going into it. We're going to keep the spirit of The Dingo alive though the space and continue to carry forward his love for education and sports which I'm so excited about. We're so stoked to have the students use Find Your Grind in the Learning Lab space and really bring our program to life in an environment that feels extremely well-suited for it. I want the space to be used as a creative hub for the Academy for programmatic parts of the day that help students with self-discovery, career goals and interests, and putting a plan together for their futures. Ideally, I want this learning lab to create an environment where a student can feel relaxed, inspired, and map out the future of their dreams.”
Thanks to the support of Nick Gross, Shaun White, and the Scheidel Foundation, our community has already raised $350,000+ toward our $700,000 year-end goal—but we still need your help to make the Luke Trembath Learning Lab™ a reality.
