College Campus Visits

Each year, we arrange for our students to tour prospective colleges and universities. College campus visits are generally integrated into pre-existing athletic trips. In the past, these have included University of Washington, University of Southern California, University of Oregon, University of Utah, Westminster College, Portland State University, University of California Santa Cruz, University of California Los Angeles, University of British Columbia, and many others.

SAT And PSAT Planning

We believe that access to and success with the PSAT and SAT plays a crucial role in preparing our students for success after high school graduation. We support students throughout the preparation and testing process to help them achieve their highest possible scores.

We administer the PSAT 8/9, PSAT 10, PSAT/NMSQT, and SAT on campus twice each year, and we require all students to participate annually. Both in athletics and the classroom, we emphasize practice, preparation, and setting S.M.A.R.T. goals as keys to success.

Our school-wide goal is for each student to improve their test score by 100 points each year. Beginning in 8th grade, students establish a baseline score, and our teachers help them create a personalized plan for improvement. By their senior year, each student will have had 8 practice opportunities and will feel confident in their ability.

All students participate in PSAT and SAT prep courses tailored to their individual performance on previous exams. These courses are incorporated into and graded as part of each student’s Advisory class. Our teachers, who are certified Khan Academy educators, work closely with students and families to develop customized SAT preparation plans.

Additional resources are also shared with families during the registration process based on their level of interest. These may include Khan Academy, Kaplan, and private tutoring options.

Our College Board School Code is: 380034.

College Applications

Our teachers provide personalized one-on-one college counseling sessions to research institutions, prepare applications, and review application essays. We ensure that our students are developing an academic identity that is appealing to college admissions departments. Additionally, our Head of School provides one-on-one college counseling sessions to find the right academic, vocation, and lifestyle fit for each graduate.

Our teachers also provide assistance with scholarship applications including research, preparation, and editing of applications.

“At Wy'East Academy, we understand that a traditional college education may not be not the right fit for everyone. We believe in making the most out of every opportunity that you are presented with. For some, that might be a professional athletic career, while others might choose to pursue more academic or artistic endeavors. Students at Wy'East Academy learn to balance demanding schedules between athletics, academics, and general life skills. Learning time management allows students to get the most out of every moment while they are with us.

Life is about perspective and once these students get an acceptance letter to a four year university in their hands, the bar has been raised on their expectations. At the end of the day, it does not matter whether our graduates go on to the Ivy League or an underwater welding program. Every student who comes to Wy'East Academy develops the ability to seek out opportunities which will enable them to surpass expectations.”
